Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana)
As the name suggests, this posture evolved from the observation of snakes. The ancient
sages observed that snakes have a remarkably elastic and flexible spine. Snakes also have a
remarkably strong muscular system and flexible jaw bone. This posture is also focused on
developing the spine as wee as the muscles in your upper body. It also focuses on correction
defects in your upper back.

Hints & Cautions:
- If you feel any strain and tension on your lower back, you have raised your upper body too much, Drop your upper body a little.
- Make sure your elbows are kept bent.
- Keep your shoulders relaxed when raising your upper body.
- keep your focus on your back.
Pavanamuktasana (Gas Expelling Pose)
The name for this posture comes from the Sanskrit word "Pavana" which means air or wind,
and "Mukta" which means freedom or release. This posture relieves unwanted gases from your body.
Any exess gas is squeezed from your stomach and intestines, thereby improving your digestive system.

Hints & Cautions:
- The gas expellin pose (Pavanamuktasana) is the counter posture to the ow pose (Dhanurasana).
- Push your knees as much as you can to your chest.
- If your lower back is weak or you experience some pain in the area, do not raise your legs to a 90 angle, as in step (c). Just release the posture by stretching your legs back to the original postion.
- This posture should not be practiced if you have suffered a back or spinal injury such as a slipped disc and sciatica.
